1 in 4 women will be a victim of domestic violence.

If you live in Texas, the statistic is 1 in 3. The 1992 Alpha Chi Omega National Convention marked the adoption of domestic violence awareness as our national philanthropy. This issue is one we stand behind as something that affects women all over the world. Together, we work to fight against unhealthy relationships and build healthy relationships. Members serve individuals and families impacted by domestic violence through fundraising and gifts of time and talents for shelters, such as our local Women’s Protective Services Shelter and other service-providing organizations. Our annual philanthropy events include Alpha Chi Open, Hugs and Pampers Drive, and Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi. Alpha Chi Omega also works to educate its own members, giving them tools to build their own healthy relationships and to raise awareness on campus and through social media during Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Healthy Relationships Week. In 2016, the women of Gamma Rho were proud to donate over $30,000 to our local women’s shelter. We are fortunate to see the impact of our commitment right here in the Lubbock community.
